A Dark and Stormy Knight

'A Dark and Stormy Knight' by Kerrigan Byrne can be read as a standalone and is book 7 in the Victorian Rebels series.

This was a 5 ⭐️read for both of us!

Cassie’s Review

I have been waiting for Morley's book since the first Victorian Rebels book. And this book is absolutely worth the wait! Kerrigan's heroes are of the darker sort, but the women that balance them out are always written beautifully. These are definitely alpha heroes and very protective of their women.

Carlton has certainly met his match with Prudence Goode. He hardly knows what to do with her! An excellent opposites attract romance.

Some of my favorite Heroes and Heroines make an appearance, and as a reader it just made me smile. These little peeks back into their lives, letting us know how happy they all still are.

There are so many twist and turns in this book as we try and figure out who's behind a multitude of misdeeds. You'll be guessing till right near the end. I had a hard time putting this book down, which is a clear indication of how good it is!

Ashley’s Review

“You are the epitome of every desire or dream I’ve conceived of since before I can remember, and that is a very specific kind of torment. An unparalleled beauty, a superb lover, a woman of grace and kindness and intellect whom I can only respect and admire. A fantasy in the flesh.”

Sir Carlton Morely may not consider himself a poet, but Prudence Goode certainly inspires beautiful prose from him in ‘A Dark and Stormy Knight.’

Readers first met Morely in ‘The Highwayman,’ and while he wasn’t exactly a villain, he wasn’t very lovable. Throughout The Victorian Rebels series, readers get glimpses of the man behind the badge as well bits and pieces of his past. I should have known I’d be half in love with Morely by the time he got his own book.

Morely and Pru have instant, undeniable chemistry. Like each book in this series, there’s action and mystery and surely men and strong women. There are also wonderful cameos from series favorites. Despite this being book seven in the series, Byrne manages to keep it fresh with a brand new storyline and unique elements. I loved this one.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Blurb⠀⠀⠀⠀ This Knight of the Crown is driven by a painful past and a patient fury… and his entire life is a lie.

Sir Carlton Morley is famously possessed of extraordinary will, singular focus, and a merciless sense of justice. As a man, he secured his fortune and his preeminence as Scotland Yard’s ruthless Chief Inspector. As a decorated soldier, he was legend for his unflinching trigger finger, his precision in battle, and his imperturbable strength. But as a boy, he was someone else. A twin, a thief, and a murderer, until tragedy reshaped him.

Now he stalks the night, in search of redemption and retribution, vowing to never give into temptation, as it’s just another form of weakness.

Until temptation lands—quite literally—in his lap, taking the form of Prudence Goode.

Prim and proper Pru is expected to live a life of drudgery, but before she succumbs to her fate, she craves just one night of desire. On the night she searches for it, she stumbles upon a man made of shadows, muscle and wrath… And decides he is the one.

When their firestorm of passion burns out of control, Morley discovers, too late, that he was right. The tempting woman has become his weakness.

A weakness his enemies can use against him.

Excerpt

All pretense of the civilized Chief Inspector melted away beneath the heat exploding between them. His hands were suddenly everywhere. His lips were no longer compressed into their tight, laconic lines. They molded to hers with a wild, wet consummation that surpassed anything she’d ever imagined.

He’d once again succumbed to the starving, carnal beast that lurked inside him. One locked away in a cavern so deep it was as if he attempted to bury it forever.

But anyone knew that a predator denied sustenance became the most dangerous of creatures. Prudence realized that she somehow possessed the key to the dungeon where he kept that beast.

And she’d hoped that once she’d let it lose, it would devour her.

True to his nature, he didn’t let her down
