Karla Sorensen blows me away time after time. She writes such realistic characters, it's impossible not to fall in love with them. The Ward family is easily one of my favorite families.
From the very beginning, when readers first met Isabel Ward in The Marriage Effect, I've wanted inside of her head. It was evident she's a complex character who deals with big emotions, but likes to rely only on herself. She seems pretty unflappable and independent.
Isabel spends most of her time at the gym that has been her second home since she was a teenager - the same gym she now manages. Formidable Isabel Ward's façade crumbles just a bit when she's introduced to the new owner, her long-time (former?) crush Aiden Hennessy.
Aiden is a new character to the Washington Wolves universe. He brings with him a heartbreaking backstory. As a widow and single dad, he's not looking for love, despite what his seven-year-old daughter may think.
This story is a beautifully-written slow burn. It made me cry but then made my heart so happy. In addition to meeting new characters with a lot of their own potential, readers get to spend plenty of time with the Ward family and attend Molly and Noah's wedding.
While this is the end of an era, it feels like there are more excellent stories to come, and I'm so excited for them!
