Crime & Periodicals

Updated: Nov 11, 2019

'Crime and Periodicals' by Nora Everly is a full-length contemporary romantic comedy, can be read as a standalone, and is book #2 in the Green Valley Library series, Green Valley World, Penny Reid Book Universe.

📚 Blurb 📚

In Green Valley, Tennessee everybody knows everybody, but nobody knows Sabrina Logan.

Sabrina has been hiding in plain sight for years. Living her life inside of books, dutifully helping her family, and hoping no one will notice her. So far? Mission accomplished!

Yet when sexy—and distrustful—sheriff, Wyatt Monroe returns to town with his daughters, he definitely notices the quiet librarian everyone else overlooks. The single dad can’t seem to shake thoughts of shy Sabrina. Without quite understanding the impulse, Wyatt makes his mission finding her again, so he can . . . well, he’ll just have to reckon with that later.

What Wyatt discovers is a woman who trusts too easily, but who’s afraid to live. Trust doesn’t come easily to Wyatt. But living? That’s never been a problem. And he’d sure like to show her how.

📚 Cassie's Review 📚 - Everyone of the Green Valley Library Series authors have brought something new and authentic to this series, and it gives me that 'contented sigh' feeling. Wyatt and Sabrina come from very different circumstances and it was wonderful that they could grow and find their happiness together with their families too. Harry was a delight in this story, and Mel and Mak just brought joy.

📚 Ashley's Review 📚 - “I’d read a lot of books. I used to look for answers in books when I was too afraid to live my life. Books were full of helpful facts, even fiction. But if you weren’t pairing your reading with living then the facts were useless.”

Green Valley Librarian Sabrina Logan takes shyness and social anxiety to a whole new level. After too many tragedies, she has retreated into her books while devoting her life to taking care of her family. Hiding in the stacks, she thinks she’s invisible, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

“You do realize that when you’re out and about with your head in a book or the clouds or wherever you keep it when we’re in public that other people can see you? You’re not invisible because you refuse to pay attention. You’re not really hiding. You look like a hot Snow White. Believe me, everyone notices you.”

“Everyone” includes hot single dad/sheriff’s deputy Wyatt Monroe. There’s an instant attraction between the two, but Wyatt has to coax Sabrina out of her cocoon in order to give that attraction a chance to grow into something more. Both have to determine whether a shot at love is a worthy gamble given the children who are relying on them. Watching this relationship bloom and grow was beautiful.

Crime and Periodicals was my first introduction to author Nora Everly's writing. It's a sweet small-town romance with several easy-to-love characters and not a lot of angst.

📚 Extra Tidbits 📚

Favorite Side Character? Cassie - Mel and Mak! Ashley - The kids

Favorite Library you’ve ever been to? Cassie - I recently saw my very first free little library, and I got so giddy I made my husband stop so I could take a photo of it! Ashley - Every time I read about a library, I automatically picture the Morill Public Library in Hiawatha, where I grew up. However, the Lenexa City Center Library is super impressive.
