Riley Thorn and the Dead Guy Next Door is very plot driven. It reads much like a cozy mystery or an action/adventure with a romance subplot. In fact, this book is an excellent starting point for a Riley Thorn mystery series.
Riley wants a nice, normal life, but her clairvoyant visions keep getting in the way. Particularly troubling is her vision of her neighbor being murdered. When her vision becomes reality, Riley has to work with hot, playboy PI Nick Santiago to prove her innocence and find the real killer.
This book introduces readers to a hilarious cast of characters, including Riley's family, friends, and neighbors as she begins to explore her psychic abilities. Readers are also introduced to a few mysteries. Some are solved during the book, while others remain to be solved in future books.
There were times when the pacing of this one was a bit slow, but this book was generally entertaining, especially with Score's familiar brand of comedy.
