The Kiss Quotient

'The Kiss Quotient,' published in 2018, is Helen Hoang's debut novel. It is a standalone smart romantic comedy.

✨Cassie's Review✨ I truly loved this book. It was very insightful and very well done. I enjoyed the role reversals of Pretty Woman, with the autistic aspect.

I personally have a BS in Economics so I loved the discussions and Stella’s thoughts about her work.

"Math is the single most elegant thing in the universe, and economics is what drives the human world. If you want to understand people in a sophisticated manner, I believe economics is the way."

✨Ashley's Review✨

I listened to this audiobook on a late night road trip in 2018. It was one of my favorite books of that year, and it’s almost incomprehensible to me that it’s a debut novel. love it when books provide me with a new perspective and help me understand those around me a bit better all while telling a story and keeping me entertained. This book definitely hit the mark.

✨Extra tidbits✨

Are you a math person?

Cassie: I’m a math person. My mom’s a math teacher, my dad’s a chemical engineer, and my degree is in Economics. (I totally took an Econometrics class!!!)

Ashley: Just ... no.

Do you shop online?

Cassie: Shopping online is the BEST

Ashley: Agree 100%.

Do you buy your husband underwear?

Cassie: Yep, which means I love him. :)

Ashley: Yes because I’m responsible for basically all purchasing in our household. But also, I love him. *shrugs*

✨Blurb✨

A heartwarming and refreshing debut novel that proves one thing: there's not enough data in the world to predict what will make your heart tick.

Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases — a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with, and way less experience in the dating department than the average thirty-year-old.

It doesn't help that Stella has Asperger's and French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. Her conclusion: she needs lots of practice — with a professional. Which is why she hires escort Michael Phan. The Vietnamese and Swedish stunner can't afford to turn down Stella's offer, and agrees to help her check off all the boxes on her lesson plan — from foreplay to more-than-missionary position...

Before long, Stella not only learns to appreciate his kisses, but to crave all the other things he's making her feel. Soon, their no-nonsense partnership starts making a strange kind of sense. And the pattern that emerges will convince Stella that love is the best kind of logic...
